چکیده

This paper develops a formal test for consistency of players’ behavior in a series of games with the quantal response equilibrium (QRE). The test exploits a characterization of the equilibrium choice probabilities in a QRE as the gradient of a convex function, which thus satisfies the cyclic monotonicity inequalities. Our testing procedure utilizes recent econometric results for moment inequality models. We assess our test using lab experimental data from a series of generalized matching pennies games. We reject the QRE hypothesis in the pooled data, but it cannot be rejected in the individual data for over half of the subjects. JEL codes: C12, C14, C57, C72, C92

LINEAR HYPOTHESIS TESTING USING DLR METRIC

Several practical problems of hypotheses testing can be under a general linear model analysis of variance which would be examined. In analysis of variance, when the response random variable Y , has linear relationship with several random variables X, another important model as analysis of covariance can be used. In this paper, assuming that Y is fuzzy and using DLR metric, a method for testing ...

ON THE EMPIRICAL CONTENT OF QUANTAL RESPONSE EQUILIBRIUM By

The quantal response equilibrium (QRE) notion of McKelvey and Palfrey (1995) has recently attracted considerable attention, due in part to its widely documented ability to rationalize observed behavior in games played by experimental subjects. However, even with strong a priori restrictions on unobservables, QRE imposes no falsifiable restrictions: it can rationalize any distribution of behavio...

A clockwork hypothesis: synaptic release by rod photoreceptors must be regular.

We can see at light intensities much lower than an average of one photon per rod photoreceptor, demonstrating that rods must be able to transmit a signal after absorption of a single photon. However, activation of one rhodopsin molecule (Rh*) hyperpolarizes a mammalian rod by just 1 mV. Based on the properties of the voltage-dependent Ca2+ channel and data on [Ca2+] in the rod synaptic terminal...

Applications of binary segmentation to the estimation of quantal response curves and spatial intensity.

This paper explores the use of binary segmentation procedures in two applications. The first application is concerned with the estimation of nonparametric quantal response curves. With Bernoulli data and an assumed monotone increasing curve, this gives rise a change-point model where the change points are determined using a sequence of nested hypothesis tests of whether a change point exists. T...
